8 large apples
8 wooden sticks
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup corn syrup
1/4 pound of butter
1 cup cream or evaporated milk
Wash and chill apples.
In a pan large enough to to keep mixture from boiling over cook remaining ingredients. When the mixture boils, stir constantly to prevent it from scorching.
When the mixture forms a hard ball when dropped into cold water, remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
Insert sticks into apples and twirl them into cooling candy mixture. Dip into ice water to harden candy, then place on waxed paper.
