Thanksgiving Basting the Turkey
Basting a turkey does make a difference. It prevents the turkey from drying out and adds flavor. Most turkeys shoudl be basted every 15-20 minutes with a turkey baster or a long brush. Simply spread the juices in the pan over the body of the turkey. Make sure you get all over.
Basting Sauces
- The juices from the turkey.
- Turkey broth (from giblets boiled in water)
- A mix of one part honey to one part water. Apply this one hour after the turkey has been cooking.
- Chicken broth with cayenne or jalepeno pepper.
