Here are some ideas of what to do with your father on Father's Day... or any day. Ask your father ahead of time what he wants to do so you can prepare. Be sure to do what he wants to do first... it is his day, but if he runs out of ideas, you can fill in the gaps!

Things To Do Inside:
    Flying Ring Toss:
Trace a twelve inch dinner plate onto a piece of corrugated cardboard and cut it out. Then in the center of the circle, trace another plate, about 2 inches smaller; cut it out too, leaving a ring. Decorate the ring with markers and crayons. Put some water or sand into 2-liter bottles ( to give them weight ) and mark the bottles with a point value of 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50. Set up the bottles in a line, about 10 inches apart. Stand back a few feet and try to toss the ring so that it goes over the neck of the bottle.
    Glue Art:
Make squiggly designs on waxed paper with white glue. Let dry until clear, then carefully peel dried glue off the paper. Color the designs with markers. Tie with a string; hang in a sunny window.
    Gooey-Gak:
It stretches and bounces like Silly Putty. Mix together with a wire wisk:
      • 1 cup all-purpose
      • 3/4 cup water
      • 1 Tbs paint (tempera or acrylic)
      Mix separately:
      • 1/3 cup water
      • 1/2 teaspoon borax

Slowly pour borax mixture into glue mixture; stir. Let stand a few minutes, then knead. Pour off any remaining liquid. Store in a plastic bag.
  • Play toss with a very soft ball
  • Let Dad have a complete hour all to himself to watch TV or read... whatever he wants. Don't leave him alone too much longer than that as he will get lonesome!
  • Get some coloring books and crayons out and color pictures together.

Things To Do Outside:
  • Play croquet
  • Play badminton
  • Play Tennis
  • Play toss or catch with a ball or frisbee
  • Take a walk and pick up as many neat treasures as you can find while you are walking (like bottlecaps and bits of wire). Make a sculpture with your findings and some glue.
  • Go rock hounding in your back yard or while walking and see how many different rock types you can find.
  • Play Dad's favorite lawn game
  • Go to the park
