Party Ideas

Circus Party!
Balloons are a natural here. By rubbing the inflated balloons against your clothing for a minute, you will create enough static to make them adhere to the walls. If there's an artist in the family, ask for painted circus posters of bareback riders, trapeze performers, and so on. You can also find pictures of a circus and enlarge them at a copy center for poster sized decorations. Anyone can draw on a big sheet of butcher paper a large-scale clown's face, with gaping mouth. Top the face with the pomponed, peaked clown's hat. Fasten the clown to the side of a large cardboard box; cut a hole in the box for the clown's open mouth. At game time, have the children toss table tennis balls or jelly beans into the clown's mouth. Have guests be circus performers. Write stunts on slips of paper and let each child pick one. Then they take turns doing their stunts: walking a straight line for a tight rope; dancing like a clown or a trained dog; walking on all fours, swinging head to imitate an elephant; roaring like a lion.
