Mother Pig:
Enlarge patterns according to directions for body, handle, tail, ears, and hooves. Using patterns, cut body and handle from vinyl, adding 1/2" seam allowance to ends of handle pieces only. Cut one each front and back ears, two tail pieces, and four hooves from scrap felt, adding seam allowance to end of ear and tail to be inserted into body. Referring to body pattern, cut opening for zipper and insert, following directions. Topstich felt hooves to feet. For eye, cut two felt circles as in pattern and using an overcast stitch, attach. With right sides out, topstitch tail and handle pieces, leaving lower edge open. Stuff both loosely. Following photograph for placement, pin tail, handle, and ears to wrong side of pig front. Matching raw edges, topstitch pig back and front together with tail, handle, and ears sandwiched between. Leave opening by legs and head; stuff legs and head within stitching lines as indicated. Close openings and topstitch lines for head and legs. Piglets: Enlarge pattern for piglet on paper. Cut two body pieces and one tail piece from felt for each piglet and do not add seam allowance. If making fabric piglets, allow 1/2" for seams all around and cut one felt tail piece. For all piglets, following pattern, cut two pieces of felt for eye and attach as described for mother pig. For felt piglets, matching edges, insert felt tail and topstitch all around, leaving 2" opening for filling. For fabric piglets, pin body with right sides together; stitch, leaving opening to turn at tail area. Turn, fill piglets with beans, rice, or bird seed. Insert tail and close opening. |
