Home Projects 35a.-picture Home Project March 18, 1999:
Colonial Doll Cradle Replica

A copy of this antique Colonial doll cradle makes a novel container for gourds or fruit. All parts can be cut from 3/4" clear-pine stock. Bevel the edges of the cradle floor and the bottom edges of the slanting sides and ends. Cut rabbets in the ends of the sidepieces so that they will lap the endpieces.

Assemble the miniature-cradle parts with glue and brads, taking care to nail on the rockers before adding the sides. Hand-rub the cradle with wax for an attractive natural-wood finish.
