Iraqi police say gunmen in the northern city of Mosul have pulled an Iraqi journalist from her car and shot her to death.

Police say Serwa Abdul-Wahab was on her way to work Sunday when gunmen forced her from her car and shot her in the head. Mosul is a notoriously violent city where attacks on journalists have become common.

The international press support group The Committee to Protect Journalists says Iraq has become the world's most dangerous country for journalists since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion.

Meanwhile, Iraqi media reports say a bomb blast in Baghdad struck the motorcade of the wife of Iraqi President Jalal Talabani today. The reports say Hiro Ibrahim Ahmed was unhurt but four of her bodyguards were injured.

Earlier, the U.S. military said U.S. and Iraqi forces have killed 14 insurgents in Baghdad's Sadr City district in a series of clashes and air strikes since Friday.

Also Saturday, a delegation of Iraqi officials returned from Iran where they discussed Tehran's alleged support of Shi'ite militias in Iraq. A spokesman for the delegation said Iranian officials had agreed to work with the Iraqi government to re-establish security in Iraq.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, and Reuters.
