How to avoid long lines

If you’re ready to ditch long lines at the Supermarket, Bank, Post Office and the MVD (motor vehicle department), try these helpful hints.
|
Supermarket: Most Supermarkets’ have peek hours on the weekends and between 5-6 pm during the week after regular working hours, when everyone stops by to pick up a last minute ingredient for dinner.
The best times to shop, if you want to avoid the crowds, are mornings or later evening hours (8pm or later).
Bank: ATMs (automatic teller machines) are a great way to save time when you’re withdrawing or depositing money. Bank teller’s busiest hours come on Monday’s and Friday’s, a half an hour before closing time, and well known paydays of the month such as the 15th, 30th or the 31st depending.
The best times to stop by the bank are “The Mid’s” which are the midmorning’s, midafternoon’s, and midweek.
U.S.P.S.: Saving time at the post office is

always difficult, even if the line is short; the postal clerk can spend a coon’s age posting every parcel. If you are coming in only to buy stamps, most grocery stores also sell them, or you can try the automatic stamp machines (to be found in most post office lobby’s) or online at the U.S.P.S.’s web address: www.usps.com
If you need to send a parcel, certified mail, or pick up something, the Post Office’s busy hours are directly after they open, lunch time, and the hour before closing. The best time to stop by and avoid the line is during the midafternoon.
Department Store: Department stores are not typically busy, with the exceptions of the Christmas holidays or special sales. As returns are accepted at most cash registers you typically will not have to

expect a long wait. The busiest shopping times are during lunch hours, weekends, and right after work hours have concluded. Try to find a register in one of the less crowed departments.
Recommended time’s to shop are in the midmorning or midafternoon.
The MVD (a.k.a. the happiest place on earth): There is no possible way to avoid a line here, take a number and be seated, just kidding (not). Though we can pretend there are some ways to avoid the MVD, when possible renew your license or registration by mail (call your local MVD for the procedure). Avoid going on Mondays, Fridays, any weekday following a three day holiday, also try to avoid Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.
The best times to stop by are the early mornings, or near closing time.
