Police say a roof collapse killed one person in the village of Kato Achaia, and one person died of a heart attack. Several people were injured by falling rock or from jumping off balconies in panic. Greek seismologists expect aftershocks and they urged people to stay calm and follow the directions of the authorities. The Athens Geodynamic Institute says the quake struck at 3:25 in the afternoon local time (1325 UTC Sunday). Its epicenter was 205 kilometers west of Athens and 54 kilometers south of Patras.
