Welcome to Looks at Books for the week of Aug. 19-26. If you’re an Ansel Adams fan, you’ll want to pick up Ansel Adams at 100 by John Szarkowski.(shar-COW-skee) Szarkowski is the curator for the centennial exhibit at San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art, and he’s gathered 114 of the artist's best works for this book. And many of the photos haven’t been shown before. Even the book is special: linen-bound and printed on high quality, heavy paper, it comes with its own slipcase. Szarkowski, director of the department of photography at New York's Museum of Modern Art, provides a thorough critical examination of the artist. And that’s Looks At Books for this week.
