As any pet owner and lover will tell you, it breaks...
As any pet owner and lover will tell you, it breaks your heart to see that your new furniture has been used as a scratching post or chew toy, but that’s never a reason to get rid of the pet. So it's better to have a pet-friendly household. That’s why every pet owner should have the new book Animal House Style: Designing a Home to Share with Your Pets by Julia Szabo and Mary Tyler Moore. It’s a book for those of us who have pets that we love as much as our human relatives. Perhaps you have friends who have pristine, white couches and fine wool rugs. Their doors aren’t scratched, none of their furniture or clothing is partially chewed, and there are no mysterious stains on their carpet. You can know one thing with certainty -- these people don’t have pets. Now, in my house, there’s one end table next to the couch that’s covered with a piece of cloth because my dog, in her puppyhood, chewed off one end. I have a rug placed strategically over a place in the carpet where she scratched the nap completely off. Ah, alas, if only I had read 'Animal House Style' first. This book offers stylish solutions for pet-run households. And that’s Looks At Books for this week.
