Ready for an outstanding family movie? Pick up a copy of “Chicken Run” and pop it in…you’ll be delighted. Adults and children alike will love this claymation award-winner. This hilarious barnyard tale follows the story of cooped-up farm chickens trying to escape their impending doom—the farmer’s dinner plate. Led by the fearless Ginger, the chickens repeatedly attempt escape, always running headfirst into failure. Just when their fate as an entrée seems inevitable, Rocky the Flying Rooster flees the circus and crashes into the farm. A deal is made: as long as the chickens will help Rocky hide, he will teach them how to fly. Piece of cake, right? Well, not exactly… “Chicken Run” appeals to every sense of humor, with witty screenwriting and clever voicing. Most of the voice talent belongs to a cast of British actors, but you’ll no doubt recognize the voice of Rocky, provided by none other than American movie favorite, Mel Gibson. And be sure to check out the DVD extras—viewing the Featurette reveals the immense talent of Chicken Run’s producers. That’s Children’s Video/DVD Review. Check back next week.
