Palestinian militants in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip have fired several rockets into southern Israel.

An Israeli military spokeswoman says Saturday's rocket attack struck the border town of Sderot, which has been targeted numerous times by the militants.  One of the rockets struck a house, but no one was hurt.

The rockets were fired hours after Israeli airstrikes in Gaza killed five Palestinians.  The airstrikes late Friday destroyed two Hamas police stations.

Earlier Friday, a Hamas mortar attack killed a 48-year-old Israeli man and wounded three other people in a southern Israeli farming community.

Rocket attacks from Gaza into southern Israel have killed 14 people since 2000.

Israel has sealed the Gaza border since Hamas seized control from the Fatah faction last year.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP and.
