Welcome to Money Saving Tips for the week of Sept. 2-9. These days many people use a calling card, like the ones from AT&T or Sprint, especially when they travel. Want to save money? Get rid of it. When you use these cards, the charges are entirely random and you could be billed up to as much as $5.00 or more per minute. That’s regardless of what the card promotion reads. And it gets worse. Those excess charges are just about impossible to reverse after the bill arrives. So instead, use only use a pre-paid calling card, or a card in which you pre-pay for a block of minutes.
