If you haven’t seen “A.I.” yet, you should check out the DVD. In this ambitious movie, Steven Spielberg has entered the futuristic world of artificial intelligence, asking the age-old question: What happens when robots acquire feelings? Haley Joel Osment star as David, an 11-year-old boy robot who narrowly escapes destruction at the hand of predators. He and his robot friend Gigolo Joe, played by Jude Law, then go on to seek out a way for David to become a real boy. While some aspects of this movie are a bit disappointing, with several scenes seeming a bit disjointed, overall, it’s worth your while. The two-disc DVD version includes a documentary about the film’s production and other behind-the-scene material. Who knows if robotic humans really are in our futuristic forecast, but, whether fact or fiction, “A.I.” makes it an entertaining thought. That’s Children’s Video/DVD Review. Check back next week.
