Colorful spring flowerpot craft

Spring has sprung, it’s time for spring cleaning, spring flowers, April showers, fresh fragrant air, and fun out door crafts like the one we have for you here.


Painted Terracotta Flower Pots: Ease of Craft rating: - Very Simple

What you will need:

  • 1 small – medium Terracotta flowerpot

  • 2 squeeze bottles

    of acrylic paint in your favorite contrasting colors

  • 1 squeeze bottle white acrylic paint

  • 2 foam paintbrushes in 1", 2" or 3" widths.

  • 1 roll masking tape

  • 1 sea sponge

All items above may be purchased from Wal-Mart ™ discount stores.

Directions on working your supplies:



  • 1. Using your foam brush, paint completely the out side of your terracotta pot with the acrylic paint you have selected. Set aside and allow to dry.

  • 2. Tear strips of the masking tape and stick them around the painted

    pot, making sure the spacing is even.

  • 3. Using the contrasting color of paint, paint the exposed areas, being sure to cover the under painting completely. Dip sea sponge in white paint and dab in exposed area to create a dappled affect. Allow to dry.

  • 4. Remove masking tape; add potting soil and your favorite spring plant!

This project is easily finished and great to display! This is also a fun craft that Children would enjoy making! Remember to be creative, if a striped affect isn’t pleasing to you, try using leaves from your yard to make a stamped affect, or textured affects by using rags, plastic sacks or sponges.
