Welcome to Children’s Video/DVD Review for the week of August 10-17. Alright, you Disney direct-to-video lovers, here’s another good rainy-day rental for the kids. “Tarzan and Jane,” the latest addition to the Tarzan franchise, is good for an hour-and-a-half of clean fun. As usual, this Disney sequel doesn’t live up to par, but it still works well enough to entertain the little ones. You, of course, will probably be bored out of your mind, but ce’st la vie. In this jungle adventure, we obviously find Tarzan and Jane, still living in happily wedded bliss. Their one-year anniversary is rapidly approaching, and Jane is trying to think of the perfect gift for her beloved vine-swinging husband. Throughout the movie, you’ll watch Jane flashback to different episodes of the animated TV series, remembering her good times with Tarzan. You’ll also see good ol’ hubby surprise his leading lady with the most wonderful gift of all…a true token of his generous, understanding love. Singers Phil Collins and Mandy Moore provide excellent musical tracks, especially with their “Two Worlds” duet. The DVD also features a video of Mandy Moore’s “Singing to the Song of Life,” a “Build Your Own Tree House” game, and an interactive story. Basically, “Tarzan and Jane” is a decent continuation of the original story. Just be sure not to go out and actually purchase the movie…it isn’t really worth your money. That’s Children’s Video/DVD Review. Check back next week.
